Today on #IHAQ, we talked with Carlos Bido, founder of 10x10 Studios, about starting new video projects.
Carlos spoke about the two types of clients you generally work with in video production:
- Clients with experience in video marketing
- Clients newer to the process.
When working with experienced clients, Carlos talked about the importance of setting expectations and building a roadmap of what's to come with the client. This way everyone is on the same page, knows what to expect, when to expect it and what will be delivered in the end.
Clients who are newer to video require a little more coaching. They know they want video, are enthusiastic about the idea of making a video, but might not know exactly what type of content they want to create.
As the producer, Carlos stresses clarity in these situations and asks the client three key questions:
- Who is your target audience?
- What is your message?
- What do you want your audience to do after watching?
If we can work with a client and help determine who they want to make a video for, what they want to tell them and what they ultimately want to accomplish as an end result, it's a great roadmap for success.
That is the goal, to collaborate and make sure everyone is happy with the process and the project in the end. Setting expectations and having clarity around the project is an awesome first step in accomplishing just that.
